Fisher Center Research Internships

Opportunity Description:


We offer opportunities for aspiring primatologists to gain valuable experience in a rigorous scientific environment and be part of a long-term program in primate-behavioral science. Encouraging and training the next generation of primatologists is a key aspect of our mission, and since 2004 we have provided professional-development opportunities to more than 200 junior primatologists from around the world.

Through the Fisher Center internship program, you will have the opportunity to collect behavioral data on established projects on chimpanzee, gorilla and Japanese macaque behavior and exhibit use. In addition to collecting observational data, you will have the opportunity to participate in our journal club and attend research talks as part of the zoo’s Conservation and Science Seminar Series.

Minimum Qualifications and/or Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Over the age of 18
  • Have completed your bachelor's degree

Application Process: 

Interns are accepted three times a year: in January, May, and September. For the January start, apply in the preceding October; for the May start, apply in the preceding February; or for the September start, apply in the preceding June.
