Hertog Foundation College Programs

Offers summer educational programs in politics, economics, and history

The Hertog Foundation offers several highly competitive and selective educational programs for outstanding individuals who seek to influence the intellectual, civic, and political life of the United States. It offers programs in three main areas: Political Thought & Philosophy; War & Foreign Affairs; and Economics & Domestic Policy.

The foundation's programs include summer seminars on Political Studies, War Studies, Economic Policy Studies in New York City and Washington, DC as well as short-term "advanced insitutes" studies on specific topics.

The Hertog College Programs are provided at no charge to participants. The Hertog Foundation provides a stipend, books, materials, and lectures. Summer programs include dormitory accommodations.

Responsibilities

Participants are expected to attend and participate in all scheduled lectures, discussions, and program events. Participants are also expected to complete the assigned reading prior to each class.

Eligibility Requirements

Applications are accepted from any current undergraduate student or recent graduate.  Non-US citizens may also apply.

Application Process

Application is made through the Hertog Foundation website by registering for an account and then electronically submitting materials.

The application for Hertog College Programs requires the following:

  • CV
  • Personal statement (1000 words)
  • Transcript
  • At least one letter of recommendation
  • An academic writing sample (20 pages maximum)
