CCRF is Hiring Undergraduates!

The College Center for Research and Fellowships (CCRF) is hiring for two 2021-2022 Academic Year Undergraduate Student Assistant Positions! 

CCRF, the  College’s office dedicated to supporting undergraduates in research endeavors and through nationally competitive scholarships, fellowships, and postgraduate opportunities, is currently seeking TWO undergraduate student assistants to support essential administrative tasks for either its national fellowship or undergraduate research efforts. Hours are flexible during the academic quarter and students may work up to 20 hours/week. 

Projected start dates are the first week of Autumn quarter, 2021, if not before. Student assistants will be hired for the entirety of the 2021-2022 academic year. A second-year appointment may be considered based on performance and viability for the assistants' schedules.

Undergraduate Assistant: National Fellowships 

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, well organized, a strong writer, and able to manage tasks with a certain independence.  

Resposibilities include:

  • Website support: update  the  CCRF’s Fellowship webpages with new content, including images, text, and short videos;
  • Marketing support: conduct digital promotion and outreach campaigns, including design of materials;
  • Management of  the  CCRF's  Social Media Fellowships profiles, including Facebook, Instagram, and assistance with the distribution of weekly listserv;
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Essential Skills:

  • Computer skills:  Google suite,  Microsoft Office suite;
  • Webpage development and management experience;
  • Familiarity with webpage maintenance tools such as Drupal;
  • Adobe Photoshop, Vimeo, Canva, and/or other graphic design tools; 
  • Experience with designing posters, flyers, short videos, web-based graphic advertisements, etc.;
  • Social Media: knowledge of Facebook and Instagram;
  • Ability to work on deadline-sensitive projects;
  • Strong writing and editing skills.

Undergraduate Assistant: Undergraduate Research 

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, detail-oriented, responsible, and independent with the ability to set priorities and stay on task for long-term projects. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Internal database management: identifying and adding relevant external opportunities, updating existing opportunities in the Research Opportunities Database;
  • Marketing and design work: support the CCRF’s print and digital promotion and outreach campaigns, including design of materials and distribution;
  • Management of the CCRF’s Research Social Media profiles, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and helping with the distribution of a weekly listserv;
  • Website maintenance; 
  • CCRF event and outreach support; 
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Essential Skills: 

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office suite, database management, webpage development;
  • Social Media: knowledge of Facebook and Instagram, etc.; 
  • Excellent communications skills.

Preferred Skills: 

  • Graphic design experience, utilizing Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or equivalent software; 
  • Strong writing and editing skills;
  • Basic understanding of undergraduate research at UChicago.
