Summer Biomedical Training Program at UMBC
Opportunity Description:
The Summer Biomedical Training Program (SBTP) at UMBC provides biomedical research experiences for undergraduate students, particularly those underrepresented in the field, who are interested in receiving a Ph.D. in the biomedical or behavioral sciences. The ten-week program is partially supported by The Leadership Alliance and the UMBC Graduate School.
The Summer Biomedical Training Program, initiated in 1997, began as an outreach component of the current NIH-IMSD funded Meyerhoff Graduate Fellows Program. The goal of the program is to offer quality research experiences to students interested in pursuing the Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. in the biomedical or behavioral sciences. Students are matched with mentors based on their previous research experiences, if applicable or the student’s research interest as identified in their application. UMBC research faculty have been and continue to be supportive of working with undergraduate students from other universities conducting research in their laboratories each summer.
