Fulbright U.S. Student Program: English Teaching Assistantship Awards

Selection Criteria: 

  • Maturity, adaptability, motivation, flexibility, and communication skills
  • Ambassadorial potential
  • Demonstrated record of community engagement
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the host country’s cultures and languages
  • Diversity
  • Relevant experience and background for teaching English
  • Demonstrated alignment with academic/professional aspiration

 Candidates for the Fulbright ETA Award can affirm the following statements:

  • I can explain how serving as an ETA in the host country specifically makes sense for my long-term interests and goals.
  • I can articulate ways that I wish to actively engage with and learn from my host country community.
  • I can describe how I am prepared to successfully teach English in the host country. (Students are strongly encouraged to explore and utilize language study resources in preparation for (and/or in addition to) their application for the Fulbright US Student Program.)
