Research Assistant for Prof. John Brehm

Opportunity Description:


I am searching for an undergraduate to assist with research on the messages that were sent to undergraduates about how to respond to the covid emergency from 2020-2023. Students will learn how to scrape information from the states’ governors’ offices, health departments, and state universities.

As such a good applicant will:  

* be proficient in the use of R or Python;  

* have excellent research skills to locate web documents from state governments, health departments, and universities;  

* have facility in using scraping tools in R or Python (or be willing to learn how);  

* be interested in learning how to extract data from text;  

* have some familiarity with causal inference research approaches;  

* be a student in a Social Science or Public Policy major, or have taken sufficient course work in an empirical social science or public policy.
