This project investigates the attitudes of Latin Americans around issues of social and economic development. It combines in-depth interviews, text analysis, and survey experiments to uncover how Latin American economic elites and the general population perceive poverty and inequality, and which policies they prefer. You will contribute to several stages of this project, with a particular focus on data analysis and survey design.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze qualitative coding of elite media statements
- Assist in developing a survey in Latin America, including reviewing literature, drafting questions, and programming the survey in Qualtrics.
- Prepare and clean survey data for analysis in R and contribute to analyzing findings.
- Assist with dissemination, including general audience blog posts.
- Assist with write-up of results.
Qualifications:
- Interest in the social sciences, Latin America, public opinion, and/or elite studies.
- Experience with R is a plus.
- Spanish fluency is strongly preferred, but not required.
- Excellent research, organization, and writing skills.
