Diversity Action Plan for Penn Genomics at the University of Pennsylvania (DAPPG)

Opportunity Description:


The goal of the program is to increase the number of students from underrepresented groups in genome sciences and genomic medicine careers by providing opportunity for hands-on genomics research.

Areas of study include:

  • Complex disease mapping, human genetic variation
  • Genome-scale functional analysis of RNA, protein, and pathways
  • Biophysical models of molecules
  • Design of experimental systems using microfluidics & nano-fabrication
  • Computational algorithms for genome-scale data
  • Software engineering of analysis systems
  • System-level modeling of cell processes &organismal development
  • Evolutionary dynamics

Summer Program: 10 weeks

Post-bac Program: 1-2 years

  • One statement detailing both your career goals and your area of research interest (include that you are applying to the DAPPG program)
  • 2 letters of recommendation from academic faculty or advisors
  • Uploaded copy of your undergraduate transcript (official copy sent by mail)

Deadline: April 1, 2020

Post-bac
Required documents:

  • One statement detailing both your career goals and your area of research interest (include that you are applying to the DAPPG program)
  • 3 letters of recommendation from academic faculty or advisors
