Center for Jewish Studies Undergraduate Summer Research Grant

Undergraduate summer research and project grants in Jewish Studies.

The Greenberg Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Chicago welcomes applications for funding to support undergraduate summer research in Jewish Studies related to a BA thesis or other, faculty-supported, project.

Eligible expenses include (1) living and travel expenses related to the proposed project and (2) reimbursement of expenses for project-related supplies and materials. Students may combine their awards with funding from other sources to cover expenses.

The number of awards and the amount of each award will be based on the needs of the strongest applicants. Grant funds should be used by December 9, 2022.

Application Process: 

Applications must be submitted via email no later than Monday, May 2, 2022 to Nancy Pardee (npardee@uchicago.edu). Materials should be sent as Word attachments or PDFs.

The application materials must include:

  1. Cover Sheet (see this page)
  2. Project proposal (no longer than two pages)
  3. Rough budget covering the entire project and demonstrating the use of the total amount being requested
  4. Recommendation from faculty member supervising the project.
  5. E-mail from college advisor stating that the student is in good standing.
