Cell Biology Research Scholars Program (CRSP)

Opportunity Description:


The Cell Biology Research Scholars Program is a summer internship for undergraduate students with a passion for scientific discovery and fundamental biology. We seek to train a diverse group of individuals who have the desire to explore and pursue careers in life science research necessary for transformative breakthroughs in the future. Our scholars will have the opportunity to work on cutting edge research projects hosted by one of our world-renowned faculty investigators, and will also participate in a rich program of training and mentoring activities designed to build key skills and perspectives necessary for a productive scientific research career.

Application Process: 

  • Letter of intent from the applicant*

Letters should outline your qualifications and prior experience, and describe your current research interests. You should use this letter to identify research areas of interest that will help us make an optimal match. One paragraph should describe your future career goals. Letters should be a maximum of 2 pages, using single-spaced, 11-point Arial or Times New Roman font.

*Non-Harvard undergraduates are encouraged to apply. Interested international student applicants must be enrolled in U.S. universities, over 18 years of age, and have valid work authorization; please note these details in your application.

  • Curriculum vitae and biography

Your current CV should include:

  • educational background with all relevant undergraduate coursework completed to date
  • cumulative GPA (major and non-major)
  • extracurricular academic and leadership activities
  • employment history (if any)
  • contact information (phone and email) of 3 references
  • a one paragraph, personal biography
  • a photograph to aid your interviewer
  • Submission process:

Generate a single PDF file containing your letter of intent and your CV/biography. PDF file name should contain your last name, your first name, and submission year separated by underscores (e.g. franklin_rosalind_2020.pdf, einstein_albert_2020.pdf). Submit your application HERE.   • Letters of support

Please request letters of recommendation (minimum of 2 in PDF format) from faculty and/or your advisor at your current institution. Letter writers should use your last name in the filename structure and submit their letter of recommendation no later than the deadline

  • Review and interview process

After our admissions committee has reviewed your application, you will be contacted via email. You may be asked to conduct a 30 minute interview with one of our program faculty by phone or videoconference (e.g. Skype or Facetime). Interviews may occur in February 2020. Final decisions and lab placements will be communicated on or before March 1, 2020. Students offered a placement will have 14 days after notification to accept.
