Fulbright Information Sessions

Introduction to Fulbright: Research, Study, English Teaching and Creative & Performing Arts Workshops

Led by Dr. Nichole Fazio, Executive Director, College Center for Research and Fellowships; and Dr. Arthur Salvo, Dr. Sandra Zupan, and Dr. Johanna Best, Assistant Directors of National Fellowships, College Center for Research and Fellowships

Join us for an introductory session about the Fulbright US Student Program with a focus on one of the four Fulbright Award types:

  • English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Award: ETAs assist English language teachers or teach courses in the host country. Depending on the country, they work with learners ranging in age from kindergarteners to university students.
  • Study Award: Applicants for the Fulbright Study Award plan to enroll in a specific degree-granting graduate program while abroad.
  • Research Award: Applicants for the Fulbright Research Award have designed their own research projects and conduct independent research while abroad, often in consultation with advisers at foreign universities or research institutes.
  • Study/Research Award in Creative & Performing Arts: Applicants for the Fulbright Study/Research Award in Creative & Performing Arts plan to enhance their personal artistic or creative practice abroad by conducting independent research, taking classes, or enrolling in a specific degree-granting graduate program.

Each workshop covers topics ranging from the program’s mission (What is Fulbright?) to practical application advice and next steps. The sessions also provide students in the College with a comprehensive overview of the eligibility, requirements, and timeline for the new UChicago campus application process, from self-reflection and essay development in Winter Quarter 2020 through final application submission in October 2020.

Attendance at one Introduction to Fulbright workshop (ETA, Study, Research, or Creative & Performing Arts) is required in order to participate in the 2020 UChicago Fulbright Campus Process. Prospective applicants attend the workshop for the award type that best fits their interests, experiences, and aspirations. RSVP by clicking on the dates below:
