Four UChicago undergraduates receive the Critical Language Scholarship

Madeline de Figueiredo, a first-year in the College has received the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to support her immersive and intensive study of Arabic this summer; Grace Bologna, laso a first-year, will use the CLS to support her intensive study of Japanese; Nicholas Posegay, a fourth-year in NELC, received the CLS to study Arabic; and, Atticus Ballesteros, a third-year in Anthropology, was awarded the CLS for Persian but declined the award to pursue research in Colombia.

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program offers fully-funded summer language institutes for U.S. university students and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.  A program of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program offers intensive summer language institutes in fourteen critical foreign languages for during summer months.
