Smart Museum Undergraduate Research Associate: Feitler Center for Academic Inquiry
The Feitler Center for Academic Inquiry at the Smart Museum of Art seeks an undergraduate to support the center’s new and ongoing dynamic programs. The mission of the Feitler Center is to promote and support teaching and learning with the Smart Museum’s collections and exhibitions, across the University of Chicago’s fields and disciplines. Working closely with the Director of the Feitler Center and the Assistant Curator for Academic Initiatives, the Associate will assist with a number of academic programs and events connected with the museum.
Assisting with the planning and execution of public programs; compiling research information on artworks and artists; supporting curricular use of the Smart Museum’s exhibitions and collections; assisting with promotional communication about Feitler Center programs and student opportunities; other duties as required.
All Smart Undergradute Research Associates will be expected to partipate in the 2020 University of Chicago Undergraduate Research Symposium on 5.15.20 and the annual research scholars curriculum. If selected as an SUR Associate, you will receive more information about these expectations separately.
Minimum Qualifications and/or Eligibility Requirements:
Undergraduate student interested in Art and Art History.
Excellent writing, editing and communication skills, close attention to detail, and a high degree of organization.
Course: Art History 101, “Introduction to Art”.
Knowledge or skills gained from the experience:
In-depth knowledge of an academic engagement program and the inner-workings of a university art museum. Application of research skills to a public museum context.
